ORIGIN INFORMATION

Surrounded by the Andean mountains, home to the Magdalena river basin, this lot of caturra has travelled from the Tolima region, in the Planadas municipality of Huila, Colombia. Accessibility to these slopes have greatly increased over the years, now accounting for about 15,000kgs of parchment from this region alone.

Famous for its soil quality and great geography for growing coffee, farms situated between 1,650 and 1,800 masl receive abundant rain, with the main crop harvested between May to August, while the smaller harvest, known as Mitaca, is carried out from October to December. This coffee is fermented in tanks for 25 to 30 hours and dried naturally in the sun.

Producers of the region began coffee production with the hopes to diversify their income.  Today, Tolima is the third-largest coffee producing region in Colombia.
