Juicy Raspberry, Toffee, Vanilla
Edgardo Urquia is a 30 year old, 3rd generation coffee producer who owns and operates Beneficio Villa Florida. This lot comes from the El Bosque plot which is comprised of 11 hectares, 7 of which are planted with 30,000 coffee trees and the rest with shade trees.
During 2020-2021 his farm was hit with both hurricane Eta and Lota which added huge challenges for Edgardo.
This lot is a hybrid of Caturra and Lempira. Lempira is a variety developed by the Honduras national coffee institute. Based on what was tasted on the cupping table, this hybrid does really well processed as a natural.
After harvesting, the cherries are left to dry on raised beds for 20 days with the cherries left on. This is one of the factors to its syrupy and sweet profile.
This coffee features juicy raspberry notes with a syrupy toffee mouthfeel and vanilla florals. It is easy to drink with just enough fermentation to give it the body and balance from start to finish.
As it cools down, it will showcase its candied raspberry notes the most. Almost as if you're drinking a berry chocolate bar.
